Winter Sun Packing Plan
Published 28 Dec, 2016
What to pack for a winter-sun getaway
Lucky enough to be heading off to a warmer, sunnier place this holiday season? If you’ve managed to snatch a few days under the rays, keep your luggage light and on-board friendly and you’ll be sure of an extra speedy exit at Arrivals. We’ve tracked down our favourite resort-ready pieces for perfectly pared-down and practical dressing when you reach your vacay destination.
Here’s what we’ll be packing for our winter-sun foray – all just a click away and delivered right to the door!
One shirt
A smart-casual shirt, a bit like this soft chambray version from J-Crew. Button up for dinner, leave it loose for lunch. A denim-y, mid-blue one goes with nearly all other colours in your suitcase.
One pair of long pants
We’re definitely, definitely giving jeans the heave-ho for a few days. These are our favourite lighter-weight trousers in a neutral shade:
Original Penguin Slim Fit Chinos in Dusty Olive
Two pairs of swim trunks
Quick-dry Tom & Teddies will fit the bill nicely! One Classic pair in Ink Blue Lizards and the other in our more tailored Contemporary style, Mid-Blue Ice Lollies. Wear them all day long, in or out of the water.
Three short sleeve t-shirts
We’ll be ditching wintry shades of navy, grey and wine and opting for fresh and brightly hued tees like this lemon and white striped version (it also comes in a bright sky blue and basic white).
One Hat
There’s no need to resort to a boring baseball cap, this natty straw number is smart without being too dressy or….to excuse the pun… old hat!
Panama Hat www.jcrew.com
One long sleeve t-shirt A great quality, new-season piece that will become a staple when Spring arrives.
APC slim-fit printed t-shirt.
One pair of flip flops
Off with the woolly socks and let your toes wiggle again! You can’t go wrong with a pair of Havaianas Brasil Sandals. Blue or green will do just fine.
One pair of sneakers
White, leather, a bit retro – we’re hankering after a pair of Vans like these:
The Bag
Throw all this gear into a sporty duffel. This one caught our eye recently because it’s lightweight, roomy, has mega-strong carry-straps for over the shoulder or back-pack style AND it’s a warm mustardy yellow rather than boring black. Sunshine here we come!
Patagonia Black Hole Duffel in Sulphur Yellow.
