Splash Proof

Holiday season is almost here for many of us and we’ll be getting down to the serious business of diving, wading and water-bombing over the coming weeks. All-day wave catching and pool-party fun is definitely part of the plan; the boys just need their Tom & Teddies and a liberal application of sunscreen. But what makes our swim shorts ideal for long, hot days of swimming and splashing?
At Tom & Teddy HQ, we’re continuously checking out design innovation. We work closely with our factory to ensure every pair of trunks can hold up to prolonged periods of chlorine or saltwater submersion, and we regularly review the fit and finish to check that they’re suitable for lap swimming, spring-board jumping or body surfing.
Here’s why Tom & Teddy swimmers are particularly splash proof:
Super-soft, quick-drying fabric: comfort is key for big boys and little guys. Our swimmers feel great against the skin and they dry very quickly, so there’s no need to change when you head to the beach bar for lunch.
Two small (but perfectly formed) rear eyelets: these humble little holes are invaluable if you want to avoid the blown-up look after you dive into the pool. They let all the air escape, ensuring you don’t inflate.
A secure and comfortable waistband: a great quality waistband makes all the difference if you’re jumping and playing sports in the water. We've added a strong, braided drawcord to ours, nicely finished off with silicone tips to prevent fraying and unravelling.
A cotton mesh lining: no scratchy nylon here! This lining takes our swim shorts to an ultra-comfort level.
UV protection: keeping a check on those harmful rays is essential. We've got UPF50 incorporated into the fabric to offer some valuable protection for the skin.
Chlorine and saltwater resistance: wear your Tom & Teddies all day, every day and year-in-year-out. The durable fabric has been selected because of its chlorine and saltwater properties, so they’re made to last. They could just be the toughest swimmers you've ever worn!
